HOLTZMAN ALUMNI CENTER / SKELTON CONFERENCE CENTER /THE INN AT VIRGINIA TECH
SFCS, in association with The Hillier Group, began assisting Virginia Tech in the planning process for this new alumni center, conference center, and hotel, the completed program study resulted in three wings for this hallmark facility.
Located on 25 acres with panoramic views of the Alleghany Mountains and the New River Valley, this large complex serves as an elegant new entrance to Virginia Tech from the north. The Holtzman Alumni Center is the home-away-from-home for Virginia Tech’s 186,000 living alumni. The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center is the largest hotel and conference center in Virginia west of Roanoke.
The east wing, known as the Holtzman Alumni Center, houses a large entry/reception area known as the Grand Hall, a board room and other meeting rooms, special collections library, and the Virginia Tech history museum. A multimedia conference hall that seats 140 people will be shared with the Conference Center. The Alumni Center’s paved terrace adds more space for outside events. An office suite for the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and associated staff is also included.
The Skelton Conference Center, occupying the central wing, includes a ballroom that seats up to 800 people. Divisible into six smaller spaces, the ballroom has a large pre-function space with a view of the Great Lawn, now used for outdoor functions. Ten dedicated conference rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Additional dining facilities include a 60-seat restaurant, two private dining salons, and a cafe, all supported by banquet food service facilities. The inside function and outside lawn spaces together accommodate more than 5,000 people.
The west wing is The Inn at Virginia Tech. It features 141 guest rooms, six executive suites, and fitness/wellness facilities.
