Our most recent marketing efforts have resulted in exciting new projects and require us to expand our staff in one, or more, of the following locations:

The following position is available in our Charlotte, NC and/or Philadelphia, PA offices:

Design Architect

Currently seeking designers with 6-10 years’ experience on medium to large scale projects. Senior living, multi-family and/or hospitality experience is preferred; however, excellent client communications, strong presentation skills and the ability to lead a team of creative professionals are essential. Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited university is required, in addition to, professional registration.

Responsibilities are inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to provide design solutions for interviews.
  • Proposal preparation and interview participation.
  • Ability to present ideas and designs during interviews.
  • Ability to design overall campus master plans and possess an in-depth knowledge of site planning and design.
  • Meeting with clients to assist in determining design of the project.
  • Ability to lead the design team through Schematic Design and into Design Development, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Ability to plan work effort and design solutions to meet project budgets and deadlines, both in-house and for the client.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Revit 2015 or higher.
  • Understanding and in-depth knowledge of SketchUp, V-RAY, Rhino or other 3D design software.

 

The following positions are available in our Roanoke, VA office:

Architectural Intern 

Successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited University and have a minimum of 2 years previous experience in an architectural office environment. Candidate should possess knowledge of design techniques, tool, and principles involved in production of schematic design through construction drawings, and the ability and understanding of three-dimensional forms and models. Experience should include work on commercial, institutional and residential projects encompassing health care, assisted living, higher education, and/or multi-family.  Renovation experience would be a plus. 

Other skills and knowledge required include the following:

  • Knowledge and competency in software packages including AutoCAD 2014, Revit, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), Google Sketch Up, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Exhibit the ability to provide design solutions and the use of various methods of delivery/presentation to clients and team members.
  • Visual skills to understand and develop design solutions.
  • Multi-tasking/ability to participate in several capacities or projects simultaneously.
  • Initiative and willingness to be responsible for specific tasks.
  • Focus, efficiency and dependability; willingness to assist when needed.
  • Ability to ensure that all the requirements of a project are put into the production drawings and that the different team members are aware of any changes that occur during design and production phases.
  • Ability to coordinate with consultants and other disciplines that are involved in the project, i.e. structural, electrical, civil engineers.

 

Office Maintenance Assistant

We are currently seeking part-time candidate who is motivated, energized and will possess the following qualities:

  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task.
  • Maintain a professional image of the firm by providing a favorable first impression

Responsibilities will include the following: 

  • Office maintenance, under direction of Maintenance Supervisor – changing light bulbs, touch-up paint, moving items around office as needed
  • Schedule maintenance and cleaning for company cars, including pick-up and drop-off
  • Interoffice package deliveries, especially heavy or bulky items
  • Office & kitchen supplies inventory & distribution
  • Maintain cleanliness and supplies for all conference rooms
  • Ensure paper supplied at all copiers/printers
  • Deliveries of paperwork/packages to other downtown businesses
  • Run errands – drop-off/pick up employees at airport, shop for kitchen supplies, dispose of items at recycling/waste management facility
  • Assist Administrative staff with copies and/or scanning as needed
  • Provide additional support and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements of the candidate are as follows:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of related experience in a professional environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license. 

 

The following positions are available in our Roanoke, VA and/or Louisville, KY office:

Electrical Engineer

Currently seeking a successful candidate having a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in electrical systems and project designs for buildings. P.E. registration, with the ability to be registered in multiple states is required. Candidate will have solid background in electrical systems design coursework, with 5 years, miminum, of experience in commercial and residential building design. Knowledge of the National Electric Code, NFPA and IBC codes, in addition to experience with analysis and layout of electrical power, lighting, fire alarm and low voltage building systems is required.

The position requires performance of all aspects of electrical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to meet with architects and other team members to determine appropriate electrical systems, location of electrical elements, and preliminary cost estimates.
  • Perform appropriate field work to determine design direction, including evaluation of existing electrical components for re-use and retrofit.
  • Work with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate systems during design and production drawings.
  • Ability to prepare contract documents using latest version of AutoCad and/or Revit software to design and provide concepts for schematic design packages.
  • Ability to develop technical construction specifications to appropriately support project design and drawings.
  • Prepare design development and construction documents, including coordination with engineering team.
  • Previous experience as project lead through each phase is preferred; but, not required.
  • Assist in electrical construction administration of the project, including shop drawing review, site visits, cost proposal evaluations, and response to questions from the field.
  • Strong written and communication skills are a must with the ability to multi-task – working on simultaneous project assignments, each in different phases.
  • Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness for continued education and development of new skills.

 

Engineering CAD Technician

Currently seeking a CAD Technician with experience in the drafting of construction drawings of medium to large scale projects – senior care, mixed use, multifamily, and/or hospitality projects preferred. Associates degree in Engineering Technology, or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience is required.

Responsibilities are inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

Solid background and proficiency in AutoCAD 2016 and 2015 REVIT; or, later version.

  • Ability to produce design development and construction documents/projects consistent with instructions, guidelines, and Revit standards, including coordination with other disciplines - civil, structural and architectural design drawings.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems with an understanding of components that make up those systems. Ability to do preliminary load calculations, duct/diffuser coordination and duct sizing and layout would be a plus for this position.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing and fire protection systems with an understanding of the components that make up those systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, including building power and lighting systems, with
  • Understanding of floor plans, sections, details, controls diagrams, panel schedules, riser diagrams, etc.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

 

 

Mechanical Engineer

Successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis on HVAC systems and project designs for buildings. P.E. registration, with the ability to be registered in multiple states is required. Candidate will have solid background in HVAC systems design coursework, with 5 years, minimum, of experience in commercial and residential building design. Knowledge of the ASHRAE standards, NFPA and IBC codes, in addition to experience with analysis and layout of HVAC systems, hydronic piping, air distribution and HVAC products and materials. The position requires performance of all aspects of mechanical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

 

  • Ability to meet with architects and other team members to determine appropriate HVAC systems, location of HVAC elements, and preliminary cost estimates.
  • Perform appropriate field work to determine design direction, including evaluation of existing HVAC components for re-use and retrofit.
  • Work with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate systems during design and production drawings.

Administrative Assistant

Currently seeking an articulate, energized professional. A successful candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Maintain a professional image of the firm by providing a favorable first impression to clients and visitors.
  • Provide outstanding customer service – internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Acknowledge visitors upon arrival and announce them to respective staff.
  • General administrative support including correspondence and reports produced expeditiously and in accordance with office standards, technical typing, filing/archives.
  • Office management support.
  • Shipping and distribution of incoming mail.
  • Provide additional support and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements of the candidate are as follows:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of administrative experience in a fast-paced, professional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat X Pro is required.
  • Certification or Associates Degree as an Administrative Professional and/or Construction Administration experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience in AIA Software, Adobe InDesign and UPS Software is a plus.
