The following position is available in our Charlotte, NC and/or Philadelphia, PA offices:

Project Designer

Currently seeking designers with 6-10 years’ experience on medium to large scale projects. Senior living, multi-family and/or hospitality experience is preferred; however, excellent client communications, strong presentation skills and the ability to lead a team of creative professionals are essential. Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited university is required, in addition to, professional registration.

Responsibilities are inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to provide design solutions for interviews.
  • Proposal preparation and interview participation.
  • Ability to present ideas and designs during interviews.
  • Ability to design overall campus master plans and possess an in-depth knowledge of site planning and design.
  • Meeting with clients to assist in determining design of the project.
  • Ability to lead the design team through Schematic Design and into Design Development, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Ability to plan work effort and design solutions to meet project budgets and deadlines, both in-house and for the client.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Revit 2015 or higher.
  • Understanding and in-depth knowledge of SketchUp, V-RAY, Rhino or other 3D design software.

 

The following positions are available in our Roanoke, VA office:

Structural EIT

Successful candidate will have a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on building structures; candidate will have a solid background in structural analysis and design courses. Knowledge with structural analysis programs and the following structural building systems are required: structural steel, cast-in-place and pre-cast concrete, masonry, cold-formed metal and wood-framed structures. The position requires performance of all aspects of structural engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to meet with architects and other team members to determine appropriate structural systems, location of structural elements, and preliminary cost estimates.
  • Assist in performing appropriate field work to determine design direction, including evaluation of existing structural components.
  • Meet with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate systems during design and production drawings.
  • Ability to prepare contract documents using latest version of AutoCad and/or Revit software to design and provide concepts for schematic design packages.
  • Prepare design development and construction documents, including coordination with engineering team.
  • Usage, and understanding, of structural analysis programs, such as RAM Structural System and Enercalc.
  • Ability to work with senior engineering and architectural team.
  • Assist in structural construction administration of the project, including shop drawing review, site visits, cost proposal evaluations, and response to questions from the field.
  • Strong written and communication skills are a must with the ability to multi-task – working on simultaneous project assignments, each in different phases.
  • Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness for continued education and development of new skills.


Plumbing Engineer & Fire Protection - Sprinkler Designer

Currently seeking a successful candidate having a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, from an accredited university. NICET Certifications required, Level II or higher preferred, and P.E. registration, with the ability to be registered in multiple states. 5-8 years of previous experience in fire protection with a demonstrated knowledge of building codes, fire protection hydraulic calculations and 8-12 years of previous experience in the planning & design of plumbing and piping systems for commercial, institutional, government and educational projects. Unregistered engineers may be considered who possess a strong knowledge/background with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the design of plumbing and fire protection systems.

This position requires the engineer to perform all aspects of engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to meet with architects and other team members to determine appropriate plumbing and fire protection systems, location, and preliminary cost estimates.
  • Performing appropriate fieldwork to determine a design direction, including making educated decisions on system designs and upgrades. Experience with system layout, calculation, and sizing of piping and equipment.
  • Work with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate systems during design and production drawings.
  • Ability to prepare contract documents using latest version of AutoCad and/or Revit software to design and provide concepts for schematic design packages. HydraCad/HydraCALC is a plus.
  • Ability to develop technical construction specifications to appropriately support project design and drawings.
  • Assist in plumbing construction administration of the project, including shop drawing review, site visits, cost proposal evaluations, and response to questions from the field.
  • Responsible for ensuring designs are in compliance with NFPA standard; as well as, ensuring delivery of quality service to the customer while maintaining scope of the firms obligations.
  • Strong written and communication skills are a must with the ability to multi-task – working on simultaneous project assignments, each in different phases.
  • Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness for continued education and development of new skills.
  • ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers) CPDT, OR CPD, and LEED certifications are a plus.

 

The following positions are available in our Roanoke, VA , Charlotte, NC and/or Philadelphia, PA offices:

Architectural Intern 

Successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited University and have a minimum of 2 years previous experience in an architectural office environment. Candidate should possess knowledge of design techniques, tool, and principles involved in production of schematic design through construction drawings, and the ability and understanding of three-dimensional forms and models. Experience should include work on commercial, institutional and residential projects encompassing health care, assisted living, higher education, and/or multi-family.  Renovation experience would be a plus. 

Other skills and knowledge required include the following:

  • Knowledge and competency in software packages including AutoCAD 2014, Revit, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), Google Sketch Up, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Exhibit the ability to provide design solutions and the use of various methods of delivery/presentation to clients and team members.
  • Visual skills to understand and develop design solutions.
  • Multi-tasking/ability to participate in several capacities or projects simultaneously.
  • Initiative and willingness to be responsible for specific tasks.
  • Focus, efficiency and dependability; willingness to assist when needed.
  • Ability to ensure that all the requirements of a project are put into the production drawings and that the different team members are aware of any changes that occur during design and production phases.
  • Ability to coordinate with consultants and other disciplines that are involved in the project, i.e. structural, electrical, civil engineers.

 

Junior Interior Designer

Our Roanoke, VA and Philadelphia, PA offices are seeking Junior Interior Designers. Successful candidates will have either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited University.  Experience in a professional office environment of up to two years is preferred. Experience should include work on commercial, institutional and residential projects encompassing health care, assisted living, higher education, and/or multi-family. Renovation experience would be a plus. 

Skills and knowledge required include the following:

  • Work with clients and other interior designers to design or renovate interior spaces.
  • Exhibit the visual skills and ability to understand and develop design solutions.
  • Ability and understanding of three-dimensional forms and models.

The following positions are available in our Roanoke, VA and/or Louisville, KY offices:

Senior Electrical Engineer

Currently seeking a successful candidate having a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in electrical systems and project designs for buildings. P.E. registration, with the ability to be registered in multiple states is required. Candidate will have solid background in electrical systems design coursework, with 12+ years of experience in commercial and residential building design. Knowledge of the National Electric Code, NFPA and IBC codes, in addition to experience with analysis and layout of electrical power, lighting, fire alarm and low voltage building systems is required.

The position requires performance of all aspects of electrical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to meet with architects and other team members to determine appropriate electrical systems, location of electrical elements, and preliminary cost estimates.
  • Perform appropriate field work to determine design direction, including evaluation of existing electrical components for re-use and retrofit.
  • Work with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate systems during design and production drawings.
  • Ability to prepare contract documents using latest version of AutoCad and/or Revit software to design and provide concepts for schematic design packages.
  • Ability to develop technical construction specifications to appropriately support project design and drawings.
  • Prepare design development and construction documents, including coordination with engineering team.
  • Ability to oversee, and mentor, less experienced engineering and architectural team.
  • Assist in electrical construction administration of the project, including shop drawing review, site visits, cost proposal evaluations, and response to questions from the field.
  • Strong written and communication skills are a must with the ability to multi-task – working on simultaneous project assignments, each in different phases.
  • Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat X Pro is required.
  • Certification or Associates Degree as an Administrative Professional and/or Construction Administration experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience in AIA Software, Adobe InDesign and UPS Software is a plus.
